Missions

At Munholland, we are committed to giving of our time, money, and other resources to serve Christ by reaching out to others on the local, regional and world level. Below you will find a list of the areas where we are actively living out the call of Christ through missions!

  •  One Great Day of Mission-  Each year we sponsor Munholland Mission Madness also known as One Great Day of Missions. On this day, church members of all ages work at various sites throughout Metairie and New Orleans to bring the love of God to the hearts of people through service.

  • Mission Trips- Currently we are dedicated to doing mission work locally. We have partnered with Triumph of Special People, a non-profit organization that provides services for developmentally disabled adults in the New Orleans area, to do construction work on a home that will be used to house mentally disabled adults. Mission projects in the community are forthcoming. Check back to see what we'll be doing next!

  • "The Good Samaritan Outreach" Munholland UMC has been contributing to this mission when it was called Lukes House.  Munholland will continue to support this mission by contributing toiletries, clothes, food for the "Love Sacs".
  • Community Support Missions- With a focus to give back to serve and build up our community, Munholland hosts two 12-Step groups at the church as well as give regular support, supplies and service to Ella Dolhonde School, our local public elementary school, People's Community Center, Habitat for Humanity, Kairos Prison Fellowship, the Ulster Project, Ekaterinburg UMC in Russia, ministries to the homeless, and many other mission projects.

  • Habitat for Humanity- Munholland works with New Orleans Habitat for Humanity to help with homebuilding projects in the local area. As part of the ministry, members from Munholland who volunteer gain knowledge and experience in the area of home repair, thereby equipping our members to do home repair jobs in other areas of missions. Volunteers generally work on Saturday

Angel Tree
Beginning the week of November 14th, you can select a child’s name and gift idea from a Christmas tree that will be placed in the Vestibule at the church’s Elmeer entrance. Most gifts will range from $25-$50. Gifts will be distributed to children at Ella Dolhonde School, North Rampart Community Center and Prison Fellowship Families and Raintree Children Services. Sacks of Love: Food Sacks
Munholland has partnered with St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church to help provide meals/snacks for the homeless at Luke’s House Clinic. St. Andrew’s will provide meals twice a month and Munholland will provide sacks once a month (3rd Tuesdays of each month). To make a donation or help assemble sacks please contact Barbara Harris bebeharris@ymail.com

Shawl Ministry

If you would like to become a part of the Shawl Ministry, our meetings are held on the third Saturday of every

month in the Fellowship Hall at 10:00 am.

Our mission is providing shawls and lap blankets to people in need of assurance and comfort from the church

family.  They are given to anyone in distress or loss, undergoing care in the hospital or experiencing bad health

or other crisis.  These shawls let them know our arms are around them as we lift them in our prayers.

For more information or if you know of someone in need of a shawl, please contact Carol Ruholl at 828-6096.
