THIS SUNDAY'S SERVICES:

ALDERSGATE

  Guest Speaker:
Rev. Dr. JOHN HOLBERT
 Perkins School of Theology
Professor of Homiletics (Preaching)

 THEME:
"Looking in the Mirror – Characters we Know : Jacob, Jonah and Ruth"
Aldersgate calls us away for a time of spiritual renewal. Through our gathering we seek to encounter God in refreshing and transformative ways. The term Aldersgate dates back to the founder of our tradition, John Wesley. We remain connected to our Wesleyan Heritage as we are reminded of the heart-warming experience John Wesley had on Aldersgate Street during his ministry in England.
Join us here at Munholland for a wonderful worship-filled event!

MISSION

March 28th- April 18th

This year our Lenten Lagniappe Mission Project will fall post-Lent. Beginning at the start of Holy Week and running past Easter we will collect healthy food snack items to support students while they are on Easter/Spring break. Holiday breaks and weekends are when school children are in greatest need for food. Not having access to government funded meals, such as school lunch programs, leaves many students hungry and in need.

This mission is very similar to our on-going “Sacks of Love” project; however, we are asking that the items donated for the student Lagniappe sacks are as follows:

Breakfast bars
Raisens
Trail mix
Peanut Butter Crackers
Fruit Cups
Pudding Packs
Beannie Weenies
Tuna & Crackers
Juice Packs
Fruit Snack Packs

These items can be placed on the stage in the fellowship hall between March 28th and April 18th.

As always, thank you for your willingness to give to children in need in our community.

Volunteer-in-missions teams make a big difference in Haiti. However, in the coming months, only emergency responders and specially trained volunteers will be allowed to enter the area. This is because of health concerns due to structural damage and water-borne illness, as well as lack of infrastructure to host volunteers.
Want to know how you can help?
The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) has been diligent in responding to the needs of the Haitian people. Donations can be given online at http://secure.gbgm-umc.org/donations/umcor (click on the Haitian emergency link on side panel).  By phone 1 212-870-3951; or by mail at
UMCOR,
475 Riverside Drive, Room 1500,
New York, NY 10115.
*Donations will provide direct financial assistance and health kits to the Haitian people.
